What the St. Saviour's site looks like in 2014

I suppose this may be my last post about the former site of St. Saviour's Church in Maspeth, for which the city was apparently short $70,000 to create a park. Take a look at the photos above and then what it used to look like.

This isn't a shame. It's a damn crime. As mentioned in a post here just about a year ago, the state and feds aided Liz Crowley in making sure this happened.

No excuse - we only have to blame ourselves for electing those politicians, not getting involved in our communities, and infighting with each other.

Thanks Costa! Mike! Aravella!

Every time I pass the site, I wonder what could have been. Sad. And this will continue elsewhere because of the shitty representation we have and low info voters.

You get the government you deserve. Liz Crowley is busy fundraising for her next run. Maybe the voters will smarten up, but I doubt it.

What's happening with the church building components? Last we heard they were in storage in a cemetery.

I think that's still what's going on since the unused funding was taken back by the City before they could get all the contracts signed. I'll try to get more info.

and her reward was a promotion.

That wall doesn't look very strong and has no back bracing. A light hurricane or strong storm may take it down on people.

These stupid people wanted Crowleys and the other same Democrats representing them. Let this be a monument to laziness and stupidity !!! Does Liz Crowley even have a brain (or is she pretending to be stupid) how could voters not notice ?

Politicians (both republican and democrat are like dirty diapers.
You need to change them they WILL fester together as one unified big stinking glob !!
---Then your screwed to dispose of them

Someone should have tried to save it 25 years ago and not wait till the last minute. If you didn't see this coming your blind or stupid.

Stupid council people! Stop electing dopes! As well as NYC not having any building ethics or neighborhood preservation!!! Neighborhoods are getting ruined everyday and shit like this is allowed in NYC. Between building that doesn't match or compliment the neighborhood to knockdowns of historic and beautiful structures that are the fabric of what made that neighborhood what it is known for. Lets get involved! Civic associations that try to preserve neighborhoods and know the history and streets in and out of there neighborhood should have more of a say and judgement of what can and can not be built when it is completely changing the character of a neighborhood. This block of a monstrosity in Maspeth is just awful and doesn't do any to compliment or make this neighborhood more desirable. It is just another soulless crap box being built.

It's easy to rant but the people that care are in a clear minority.

Vallone got in - I don't know one person that supported him - everyone I know voted for Paul Graziano - yet we were in the minority.

I helped the campaign but there was no interest - people in Queens are largely apathetic.

However, all the mafia moms came out and voted for Stinky Vallone.

The people that give a shit are already reading this blog.
